How do I stop comfort eating?

I have a bad habit of eating junk food when I'm under stress, which has happened a lot lately.

Now I'm starting to put on weight, and I'd like to stop. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You need to find something to take up the time that you spend sitting around eating. Also like somebody else said, try snacking on healthier foods. Get a bag of those baby carrots.

Always keep snack veggies and oranges on hand. Eat those instead.

Instead of eating junk food, stop buying it and eat healthy food instead. Or even slightly healthy food!

Do something else to stay busy, such as video games, hanging out with family or friends, drawing, exercising, playing the ukulele etc.

Get a book at the music store! They're fun to play. You can Even learn to pick melodies out in them. Then graduate to the baritone uke then the guitar! You wont have time to eat because you'll be having too much fun!

Go on a diet and not go to any fast foods and throw away all junk foods and eat healthy ones instead

Instead of grabbing a bite, grab your shoes and go for a walk. It will burn the extra pounds and help clear your head. It is one of the best stress relievers there is.

Simply do not buy the junk food in the first place, and it won't be there to tempt you. Have a good meal before going to the grocery store; you'll be less likely to buy the junk if you shop on a full stomach. Get some healthier things to snack on: yes, the baby carrots, radishes, apples, bananas, yogurt if it's not the disgusting kind loaded with high fructose corn syrup and/or artificial sweeteners, etc.

or simply read or oisten to ur fave songs

Instead of comfort eating, try to find something you enjoy doing: i.e jogging. Perform that activity whenever you feel the urge to comfort eat, keep doing this for the next course of weeks, it takes 30 days on average to set a habit :)

habits are hard to break, but easier to adjust... there are a few things to try
First stop bringing those things into the house, period
Second make yourself keep a diary of anything you eat, you will think twice no matter how you feel
Third make yourself accomplish a task before you eat, going for a walk, push ups sit ups, something physical each time. It will either raise your endorphins pulling you into a better mood or you will decide you don't want the food that bad. :)
