How to treat a social phobia?

It's an anxiety disorder in which a person has an excessive and unreasonable fear of social situations. My sis, Ashlynn has problem talking to other people, even on the internet. She's afraid that she will make mistakes, look bad, and be embarrassed or humiliated in front of others. Not only that, she constantly avoids other people. I really worry about her.

I have it too, I solve it by being around people more. It is said "the best way to solve a fear is to dive into it" (though it doesn't work well with my arachnophobia) so I kind of force my self into social situations, and if I don't my friends do it for me. My friends (the few I have) also aid me in this phobia by simply being around me when in social situations, it seems to calm my nerves.

That's how i do it, she may be different. Social phobia isn't something to really worry about as it seems to wear over time, especially when you have to interact with people in everyday life- you can't avoid them forever.

Exposure is key and can be a real confidence booster. Don't take her to a club or anything, but just introduce her to some of your friends to help her get comfortable talking with others

That can be cured by seeing a professional. Lots of people have overcome it.
