How can I fix a squeaky floor and stairs?

You can drill two holes - one small and all the way through to a joist and another larger and half way though. Drill a screw into the hole until it seats and pulls the tread down tight. Fill the larger hole with a plug - a small piece of wood that matches and sand it down flush. Stain over the plug and no more squeaks.

i heard sprinkling baby powder into the floor boards helps minimize the squeaking.did you get caught sneaking in late last night (?) :)

I don't know how to repair the floor squeak but "Charliedog" is on here is in the stair repair and installation business. You might want to request his assistance.
