I got a strange text. Read Below please.

I was on my phone and then I got a text. I did not recognize the number but It had the same area code as me. It said , " Heres that wild website I was telling you about at work (My Dads name), Cacasuals.com. Like I said It's way better than POF/ e harmony, I got tons of action last week". My dad does not have a mobile phone and texting number.

It's a scam. The ad will take you to a site where they'll phish your site, personal, and any other information your carrier freely allows. DON'T use it, delete it! It has nothing to do with your father.

I nearly got burned by one recently, it used the same ploy, only my father has been dead 14 years!

I got a virus/bot on my phone recently that was trying to transmit godknowswhat godknowswhere, but my carrier shop fixed it. Said it either tagged in from a text or I got it somewhere on the net. Stupid scary stuff but all I can do is be aware, I guess. How can you firewall a phone? That techy, I'm not. :/

Sorry about your dad, btw -- it's even creepier that it popped out a name like his. :/

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T GO ON IT! UNLESS you were asking a question about it and your friend just told her friend to text you and say that

Don't answer and don't go to the site. Tell your carrier.

Tell you father about it ASAP. Because not only is that person hooked on the thought that that's your dad number, but he may also start sending things oddly inappropriate that may have been meant for your dad. Or it could possibly be an idiotic friend. To find out, try using someone else's phone (like a cousin. NOT a friend, possibilities are high that he/she is a friend, so its very likely that they'd have your friend's number, so that's no use) and call the number that texted you & find out if it's an olde person or someone your know. good luck.

It's a SCAM--Delete it immediately!!!
It's either a tollcall con lure or a site that will drain info from your phone, aiding ID theft or any one of several dangerous (to you) scams.
I totally agree with the other responders, above. It's a computerized auto-texter that's sending out a fake message that's meant to lure or trick people. The use of a name that is also your Dad's name is just a coincidence (OR...some of these have been known to use names from the phone's contact list, which is even creepier).
Call your carrier and ask if they have a number you should forward it to, if you ever get another one. (My carrier does)

Scary stuff.. I get more and more nervous about phone/computer/online shopping & banking/ID theft, etc etc. I got a virus on my phone (!) from surfing the net. Oy. Carrier shop fixed it ... But still!

I agree! It was only a matter of time after telemarketers started calling cell phones.

Get your fathers name however and then they scam you a multitude of ways.

more than likely it is a spam style text that is sent to random numbers. do not open the link as it could allow the sender access to some personal information such as contacts etc. still tell your parents, this sounds like a naughty spam threat. good luck.

Call them up on a pay-phone. it's most likely either a) one of your friends pulling a prank b)someone trying to scam you for money or b) your dad is really creepy

I got the exact same text last night, it said 'ken' where as the above person said 'dad's name'... I think that very well could have just been a coincidence/ lucky guess. My message came from the number 613 261 8391, I searched the number and it said cellular with koodo network. This seems like spam to me.

I received the exact same message from the same phone number last night that lilycan did. Do you know if it's true, that they can hack into your phone if you open the message? I opened it and replied - saying this was sent to the wrong cell number, not knowing this was going around to various cell numbers.....little worried, wondering if I should call my cell provider.
Has anyone else done the same thing, if so, what happened?
