There at sooooooo many really good poems out there. You're lucky if you've had a teacher or family friend introduce poetry to you to help you appreciate it. Sometimes it helps to have a knowledgeable person read poetry to you so that you get used to the rhythm of it which will help you understand it and the way it's written, sometimes with "poetic license". For a fun one, read Robert W. Service's "The Cremation of Sam McGee!". It's written tongue-in-cheek!
