How was the gradualism model of evolution differs from the punctuated equilibrium model of evolution

Report as

Gradualism says that small changes accumulate over long periods of time. Punctuated equilibrium says that there are spurs of rapid change with long periods of time between them with little or no change. I believe both are viable models, and evolution works sometimes according to one and sometimes according to the other. There is ample evidence to support either, and it doesn't have to be that one model is right and the other is wrong. They could both be part of the truth.
