what are the steps to becoming a certified Lactation specialist? and then a Lactation consultant? I really want to help nursing mothers.

Call your local La Leche League chapter. They will know exactly! If you can't find it in the phonebook, your local hospital should have the number. Call the Labor and Delivery desk.
