Sing something that flatters your voice. Doesn't matter what genre

Well, sing something that you like and that you feel comfortable singing to. The genre does matter. But, make sure you sing what you and your voice are comfortable singing. You'll do great!! :)

I'm glad you're waiting till you're older to try out. I don't think you should worry about it now, because your voice will change a lot between then and now. Good luck tho!

my opinion is pop, country but not rap or heavy metal, but thats just my opinion, if you want, sing whatever you like.

I'm a singer myself, but I never thought about going on the X-factor or American Idol. Practice everyday. Even in front of people. You can sing in front of a group of people and see what they think of your singing. If they say you're good, then there's your chance. Good luck :) Oh, and you can sing whatever you're good at singing. It's not up to people to choose what genre of music you should sing too, it's up to you, to make that decision.
