To Love, of course. It is not necessary to be loved in return of love. To expect to be loved in return of love is but counterfeit love. Love gives nothing but itself, and takes nothing but from itself. For, love is sufficient into love alone. Love has no other desire, no other motive and no other want but to fulfill itself. I believe, even though love longs to be loved, so shall love be equally satisfied without being loved.
Both of course, if you are loved, then generally you should give love away to others...yet, these days, the word 'love' is used too much. Love is a special word, today it is thrown around in sentences like, "I love you," but you don't actually looovvvveee that person, you just love them for what they can offer, not what you can accomplish together. Though there is the other side of things, where children that are brought up in families that don't say 'I love you' become bitter. But, in the long run, yes, it is important to love, and it is important to be loved, for without love, one becomes rather depressed and tries to change themselves so that people will 'love' them...but now I'm babbling.... haha. YES! IT'S IMPORTANT TO DO BOTH. There we go. haha xD
Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that the most important commandments were to "love God with your whole heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:24-40) Both of those commandments involved loving someone else. Jesus did not say "be loved by God and neighbor." So it's more important that we show love.
