Vaio laptop turns on, but nothing past a black screen and the fans running. What do I do?

The peculiar thing about it is, when I press control alt delete the caps-num-scroll lock lights flash and it gets loud, flashes for a second and goes back to just the same damn thing as before.

The screen might be broken or their is something stuck inside the computer or it may be cause you use it too much

can you hear the Hard Disk whirring up? if not, the Hard drive is .probably dead. Time for a new one. Do you still have the disks it came with?

Yeah, I think that's what he means by the fans whirring. Usually you only hear the fans whirring after the computer has been running for a while. It has a different sound than that of a Hard Disk.
Good answer, but I think this is what he means.

That's not it, this same kinda situation has happened before but it eventually turned on. But I don't know what a hard disk would sound like, all I know is that the laptops insides are spinning like they always have.

You might want to get the screen checked. It might be dead (lcd backlight dead/not working) or the ribbon cable might be loose.
Try connecting it via the VGA cable to an external monitor (or HDMI if it has it) then turn it on. Check out this page here for info on howto: http://techtips.salon.com/use-external-monitor-laptop-sony-vaio-25417.html
If you can see the computer on the external monitor, then it's an internal screen problem.

No. It's already connected to an external monitor, the intial screen is far from not shattered.

Sorry, should've provided that info :3

If the external monitor is dead too, then either the HDD or the video card is dead. Thats it. decide if you want to change out the HDD. You can buy a new one for about 40 bucks on ebay. Do a google search for your model number and HDD size. You can usually get directions on line to swap it out.
Report as
yeah. Tractortug and ugag-guy are correct. If the external monitor is dead, than you basically need to have it checked out at a computer repair shop. They will tell you exactly what the problem and, for a fee, will repair it.
Report as
If the video card is bad, throw away the laptop. The built in video cards are not cheaply replaceable.
Report as
Yes, but at the computer repair shop they could be able to salvage your data and will tell you what the exact issue is, allowing a more focused fix.

Mine did this, had to get the hard drive replaced. It fell on the floor and somehow it fried the hard drive. I lost everything. Maybe if you didn't smoke, you would have more sense....
