What is your opinion on the gun restrictions/laws that everyone is talking about?

Personally, I dont think these new laws are going to change anything. Gun sales have gone up very much ever since the Sandy Hook shooting. They are making the situation worse.

It seems to me to be silly to make a law to keep guns out of the hands of criminals... They are criminals, they will just break the law and obtain guns illegally, and the rest of us law abiders would be left defenseless...

It's stupid. No gun should be banned for any reason. I hope it fails cause I want to get an AR-15 for coyote hunting.

Guns don't kill people
People kill people
And I keep a loaded 40 smith n Wesson under my pillow
It has never killed anyone
A gun still needs a finger to pull the trigger -

I think it's dumb, they shouldn't take away my second amendment because some crazy guy used a certain type of scary-looking gun to take away some kids lives.

The bad thing is an AR-15 is not an assault rifle. It's a semi auto that looks like an assault rifle.

please don't the owner of the gun is capable of not shooting it an shooting the gun doesn't magically go off not the guns fault and if they do add more gun laws all you have to do is get one off the streets very simple. just like drugs their illegal but i don't see that stopping anyone from obtaining them so i think its useless.

I believe that they need to eliminate semi-auto weapons but at the same time people are going to start up black markets around the country. So would it really help?

No gun should be outlawed. SIMPLE solution. want an assault rifle? get a carry permit and add it to the carry permit. add a mental health eval if you want. If you can't get a pistol permit you don't need an assualt rifle.

I hate the fact that We might have to give away our guns. Say a random hobo walks into your house and say you had a gun. The president decides to take away all guns. Then say the hobo tries to steal your stuff. What do you do? Lol. That is why we desperately need guns.

You can't kill some one for stealing your stuff that's illegal

You can go to prison for that for a long time .

It's almost impossible to use a gun legally with out being put away for it

Gun laws are only making it seem as if government is doing something, when they really aren't.Our current laws are effective, but they aren't properly enforced,so now we will have more of the same, which will only result in negatively affecting the honest,law-abiding gun owners. They need to concentrate on the people behind the weapon, not the weapon itself.

Criminals will always find a way to obtain weapons illegally. So, there's really no use of those gun laws.

Guns aren't the problem it's the people that use them that are the problem and we Americans that are law abiding citizens have to pay for these criminals actions

I don't think it will go too far. Their perception of what an assault weapon is is ridiculous. I totally agree with stringent background checks. Shouldn't they be doing that already? Too bad we can't keep the guns out of the wrong hands, but unfortunately if we took all the guns off the planet we still couldn't do that. Evil will always exist!!!!

There's already plenty of gun regulations and restrictions. There is no evidence or facts proving gun control works. Look at cities like Chicago with the harshest gun control, they have high violent and gun crimes. States that allow conceal and carry have seen crime rates drop. Look at Australia, it put in all sorts of gun bans and gun control and violent and gun crime has risen at a substantial rate. Gun control only affects law abiding and responsible gun owners. If criminals want a gun, no matter what type they will get one. It's the sad harsh reality. I believe us good citizens should be armed for protection. A few stats here, 8% of gun crimes are committed by legal gun owners. More people died from hammers than "assault rifles" last year. Bare hands and feet killed more people than rifles and shotguns combined. Most gun murders are by handguns and between one thug and one or few victims. I believe the majority are a result of something to do with drugs.

Passing more laws isn't the answer, these proposals are what I refer to as " feel good" legislation ; good hype , but no real impact on crime. The "elephant in the room" is , in my opinion, the mental health issues of individuals ,but this Is an area where we must tread softly . Very complex issue, no easy fix in spite of what some politicians may tell us.
