I can't sleep anymore please help

I haven't slept past 3:30 in months. I have these bad dreams but I can't remember them. all I know is I wake up sweating and shaking but I have no idea why. it's always around 3:30 am and I can't sleep afterward. I'm on sleeping medicine already but that doesn't help. is there anything I can do?

Lots of possibilities, but do you eat before you go to bed? Nap in the daytime? Exercise/activity in the daytime?

I exercise about an hour everyday and I eat a few hours before I go to bed most of the time. Sometimes I take a nap in the middle of the day but even then it's hard to get to sleep

Try not eating as close to bedtime if you can help it. Try, also, to avoid napping, if you're able. Keeping a time-based routine for sleeping can certainly help. The exercise can help too, If you're contemplating upping the exercise for any other reasons, it might also help to stimulate the body's natural tendency to want to rest more completely.

Do you know why you are having these bad dreams? It could be because some things that had made you upset recently, and those bad images must have formed in your brain to form unpleasant dreams. Try sleeping next to a family member or a friend, and talk with them before you go to sleep. You can even turn on the TV/ipod, etc and go to sleep with them turned on (make sure it isn't scary or anything).

If anything persists, I suggest you to book an appointment with a counsellor and they could help you from then on.
