Is it true that Ask.com only allows intelligent, serious questions? Also, is every answer the same way?

Someone told me recently that this site is only for those sorts of things. I could have sworn I'd seen hundreds of Justin Bieber and Mayans and other weirdness but maybe I was hallucinating.

Tralbry, even you know better than this. Just look at your line of questioning here at this site. Boredom feeds the isolation all too many feel from sitting behind a computer screen nearly 24/7/365! Do you not see that also? We've had our differences here at the site, but I always found you engaging and a true spirit that challenged my thoughts and perceptions on so many levels. In my studies of this site I've noticed a change is occurring in societies need for companionship. If we can't develops strong social bonds at home and school, where do you think today's youth will turn. In my opinion, the only place. they feel comfortable and relatively safe, is their computers! And ask yourself, when you remove the human contact from most conversations what does it become? As I now wait for the end, I want you to know I see you as a friend and not an adversary. Take care, and keep fighting the good fight! ;)

I like your answer. Not much human contact when young people cannot even look up from their electronic gadgets to cross a street safely! They expect everyone to look out for them. Their priorities are in the wrong places today. They're not learning anything in school. Not with ASK.COM to give them the answers and certain moderators condoning it!

Yes! So true, very insightful.
I see the same, and whenever I see the young ones (and even the older) lashing out blindly and with little sense of consequence or with deliberate intent to provoke, it makes me a little sad and nervous at the same time.
I see heart in your comments, however, and it warms mine. I'm glad you're here.

I don't know what's come over me lately, I can't seem to control my emotions, it's as if I've opened a spigot and they're just pouring out. I hope this isn't a sign I'm nearing the end, I've got so much left that I want and need to do.

Than you, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You'll be missed.

Rusty, if you're nearing the end, then so am l. It's not wrong to speak your mind. We are older and speak from heart, experience and observation.

Rustyb, I don't want to encourage negativity, but my 89 yo grandmother knew her time was near and told me so, and took the chance to tell me things she hadn't been able to, before. Being in my late 20's way back then, it made me squeamish because I didn't want her to "give in". She died a few days later, of nothing in particular. But I've never ever forgotten the loving and helpful things she said.
Your end, hopefully, is a good ways on down the road (as I hope mine and my dear husband's are)-- but none of us really know, do we? You might just be becoming more intimately aware that there _is_ an end up ahead ... somewhere. It's a thing the young very very rarely understand, truly, at gut level.
If you've got a spigot running (great image, btw), why not just let it flow and be grateful for the excuse/opportunity? It's pretty welcome on this end, I can tell you. So, while it's still running you oughta also go embarrass the heck out of the ones you love and drench them! Yessiree!
It's your big chance, buddy!
Later, you can always go back to being a crotchety ole cuss like my husband pretends to be ...

....... Annnnd, because I can't help myself and have to say it:
Get a check-up!
-- just in case your body is "tryin' to tell you somethin'". (You know that gospel song? It's a Good one.)
Yeh, yeh, I know -- but as I keep telling my husband, "I nag ... because I love."
Also, you're nice to have around.

Rusty, if you read the other responses you will see my motivation for asking the question. When earlier I asked an intentionally stupid question for fun I was told that ASK didn't have stupid questions. SO in a way I was mocking that idea.

Obviously boredom is key to much here. So is genuine shallowness.

No... It allows all types of questions. Even pseudo joke type questions that arent really funny.
Gotta remember... there are stupid people on the planet. Some questions that look really stupid are actually of great concern to some of these people.

No, they allow questions describing how many times a girl's boyfriend comes in her, "am I pretty," I had sex yesterday--could I be pregnant, really stupid questions. But there are some really thought-provoking questions and answers as well. You kind of take your chances with the mods, some are really helpful, and some are kind of evil. Ask is sort of a microcosm of the universe.

Few understand the global reach of ask. I set my alarm, so as to be awake when some of my other global contacts use this site. Ask reaches farther than anyone can comprehend.

Interesting, and yet there are seldom names that are new to me...guess a lot of people just watch.

I think I'm most intrigued by questions from people whose English is a little rough and it takes some serious leaps to figure out exactly what the question is.
I sat staring at one Q for about 5 minutes, wondering if it was either a bad joke or a random word generation from some jokester. Then one of the "elders" (I.e., experienced) of Ask answered and it finally dawned on me what a non-English speaker was trying to ask. The absence of recognizable verbs (to me, anyway) threw me!
I don't mind the stupid repetitious stuff or the occasionally silly kid stuff because I can just move on till I find one that's interesting. I love finding other curious people, and folks with experience in so many unique things. I learn a lot here, from others and when I do research for links to help a questioner.
And the best part is -- if somebody seriously crosses the line, there's a button to click ... Or I can just move away and not have to "hear" any more dreck. Easy peasy.

Ask is a one off phenomenon. It allows human contact 24/7. When you feel like no one cares, no one understands, no one can help or you just lack social company Ask is always available unless your Internet has expired. Human contact is soothing to a soul. Feeling like you are a part of a world, society, community of like. Minded people validates who & what you are. For some it's a form of, at times entertainment & allows me to learn how others Live. It broadens my knowledge & opens my mind to other options in this life. It makes me laugh & at times it proves stupidity can be a lifestyle not a frame of mind. All I can say is it's always there when you want company & you never know who you will help or learn from. if nothing else it's an educational/life experience tool that I wouldn't want to be without. cheers.
