The ministry for Children and families has always been screwed up.

My husband and I wanted to adopt a baby boy, his mother wanted us to adopt him. But the ministry put him into foster care instead. We own our own home and have for years. At the time (2000) we were living in Maple Ridge, in a real nice area, we are married and have been for years as well. Instead of living with a loving family who could give him everything, the tax payers are raising him.

This isn't a question, but nice statement.

Agreed, not a question. We also don't know all of the details which would cause the ministry to put the child in foster care. Adoption is a long process; if the child was to be removed from the birth mother anyways, and you are not registered foster parents, they can't let you have custody of the child until the adoption process is complete. The system is there for the child's safety, and their interest is in the child. They won't let you just take the child home.

I commend you for wanting to adopt the child, but I think your time and effort would be better spent on the situation than on the internet complaining about it. If the birth mother agrees to sign over parental rights to you, and if you had a good adoption lawyer, it would make this a whole lot smoother for you.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. You are right. You seem to have a good married life and living arrangements taken care of. Maybe it's the earned income the two of you bring into the household. Is it enough? I don't know. Maybe try by using other organizations who deal with world wide adoptions and maybe your luck will change

The foster care program receives funding every month, for each child they have in foster care and adoption does not pay as well. Get an attorney to see what you can do, challenge the program and make it clear to the courts, you are willing to adopt the child. Good luck.
