I am sure someone will come and tell me how wrong I am . But Prayer is more than just you talking to God it is also Praising God and Listening to God. I believe ( notice I said "I" believe. So this not fact) that it means to always keep your heart and your mind open to God at all times. Always be aware of is presence in everything especially in you.
My opinion is...I believe it means to keep your faith when praying to God. He doesnt always answer our prayers when we want him to, but when he knows its time too. Some give up on praying due to not getting immediate answers from God. They think he isnt listening to their needs, but he is. He is always there. I feel it means to keep looking for your answer or miracle, he will give it to you when its time.
It means to pray all the time. Like when you meditate in the word day and night. That means that throughout the day, try thinking of the word of God every moment you can. Well, I believe this verse means pray every moment you can for as long as you can. Gby
Did some thinking and some research.....It does not mean that we are to sit around all day with our head bowed, eyes closed all day........it doesnt mean non-stop talking all day long either. What it means is an attitude of God consciences and God surrender. I think we are live and walk in awareness that God is with us and is very involved with our thoughts and actions.
Pray without ceasing is to constantly be either praying which can be talking to God, Worship, And Mediating in His Word. Some may say this is impossible but with God all things are possible. I remember years ago we use to sing a Song " All day long I've been with Jesus" If the Lord indeed is your life and in your heart then you mind is on Him always. Christianity is a religion it's a lifestyle.
Paul's command in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "pray without ceasing," can be confusing. Obviously, it cannot mean we are to be in a head-bowed, eyes-closed posture all day long. Paul is not referring to non-stop talking, but rather an attitude of God-consciousness and God-surrender that we carry with us all the time. Every waking moment is to be lived in an awareness that God is with us and that He is actively involved and engaged in our thoughts and actions.http://www.gotquestions.org/pray-without-ceasing.html
Just dealing with pressures of everyday life can absorb so much of our attention that we do not make an effort to speak to God. Jesus encouraged his disciples to “pray continually,” and he himself did that. (Matthew 26:41) How glad we can be that God puts no limit on how long or how often we may talk to him in prayer! Meaningful, heartfelt prayer builds faith.
