What would be a downside to an end of hunger everywhere?

Over population. Look up invasive species, you'll find out what happens when an unlimited food supply is not offset by population control.

So, in 3rd world countries, if hunger ended you think there would be overpopulation? Is there overpopulation in America?

China is a good example of a 3rd world country on its way to becoming a 1st world nation, they have had to enact a "1 child law" in order to combat over population. The US has always benefited from large amounts of resources and low population density, we have long had an urban culture based in industry and the agricultural mindset of large family groups no longer exist. Many 3rd world cultures value huge families, 10, 12, even 18 children are not uncommon, until that mindset can be changed feeding everyone is just like throwing gas onto a fire.

Given the current state of affairs ... the only likely way to end world hunger, is death. Either all the hungry people dying, or the deaths of thousands of soldiers in an effort to remove corrupt governments around the world.

to maintain ending hunger, you would have to "under populate" the Earth ... so there would be less people than there are now.

Whether that's a downside or not, depends entirely on personal opinion.

But would that really be the "down side" to ending hunger? I mean, how many people would rather be too fat than starve to death? Plus ending hunger doesn't necessarily mean there would be obesity, it just means there wouldn't be starving people.
