What is a great homemade toy for kittens/cats?

I have a little cute Tabby kitten, and he is super playful! He plays with feathers, strings, wires (better keep 'em away!!), cloth, balls, paper, HE PLAYS WITH EVERYTHING!!!! Your answers will be valid UNLESS they include wires! I don't want him to be electrocuted! I got him last month (Jan. 2) and he loves to play with anything! If you answers, it is very much appreciated! If you don't, well it is okay! :) Thank you so much!!

Tie a string to a stick and something (a feather would work), colourful would be good. Then you can bounce the string with the feather. I also used to roll up tinfoil into a big ball (big enough so she couldn't choke on it but small enough to fit into her mouth) for my cat. She actually learned to bring it back to me to throw it for her again after she batted it around a bit) if u don't want to use tinfoil roll up one of those single socks always found in dryer. Also they love paper bags, you could put fabric on the outside if you wanted. And although its not homemade they seem to love to chase laser lights but a very bright flash light works too.

Yes I have actually had three cats in my life but I only have one now. At the time I found Ask.com we had just gotten the puppy that year so I put her pic. And the name Measow was supposed to b Meadow, (my Goldie's name) but I made a typo...lol and didn't notice it till a long time after...:)

My dog would chase the beam from a flashlight in the dark. Didn't know Cats do too.

You can often adapt bird toys into cat toys. Bird toys are usually cheaper then cat ones. You can also reuse the mirrors, bells holey balls, spinning bits etc make your own unique toys out of the parts.

I played with my cat using a long string with something shiny or pouffy on it with two pulleys and just pulled the object back and forth

Wine bottle corks. Champaign corks are the best because they roll in circles.

Under a table, you can place a super ball and let the cat swat it. It will bounce around under the table and chairs in all sorts of directions much to the cat's confusion.

But, of course. The next step after the super ball is placing a jumbo marshmallow there instead. If the cat is fully clawed, the marshmallow gets stuck on the claws. So he uses his other paw to knock it off, but instead get those claws stuck too. It is like a Chinese finger trap for cats. He ends trying to bite the marshmallow only discover it tastes horrible.

Now, that's amusing.

Broken fishing pole with a string tied to it and a feather on the other end. A potpourri bag filled with catnip for them to roll around and bat at. a 4"x4"x12" block with an 8X8 base nailed to it and something like the fishing pole attached so you dont have to hold on to it. the reason for the fishing pole... it's flexible and when it springs back... POUNCE! a soda box from a 24 pack... you will laugh your behind off.

Take a long piece of toilet paper fold it in half lengthwise roll it up tight and tie it with a piece of string. You can drag it around or hang it up. They love it!
