Will imessages cost me?

I have a ipad and i live in canada, i want too imessage my friend in the u.s. she has an ipod. Will that cost me money too imessage her?

You will not be charged to use iMessages. Sending an iMessage only requires a data connection, which is either 3G or Wi-Fi. When sent over Wi-Fi, there will be no carrier involved, but when sent using 3G, it will involve the carrier data allotment.
