No. It's bad in high amounts and kind of passive in regular amounts. It's an empty calorie, it affects your judgment and for children messes with their brain's development. That's true for all alcohols. As to positive effects, there was one study that found italian men who drank one glass of wine a day had less heart disease than italian men who didn't drink one glass of wine a day. That doesn't really say much. The one study wasn't enough to look at all of the other many, many, many variables that those italian men could have been exposed to that would cause them to have low rates of heart disease.
