Worst mainstream, popular, or widely listened too rock band ever?

For me, it's Nickleback and Chicago. Green Day is pretty bad too, though no where near the level of Nickleback. I'm curious about some other acts that are universally loathed. Obviously, keep garage bands out of it.

Even though I don't mind them, I'll admit their music basically comes down to "Make a bunch of noise and Kurt Cobain screams into the mic."

Yup, and sadly I actually PAID for that first album, somebody recommended it so I bought it without even hearing iut first, took it home, popped it in the CD player ... dude, from the very first NOTE of the first song I HATED it! I'd rather listen to puppies being eaten by alligators!

Though I'm not disagreeing with the assertion of One Direction being a horrible, horrible band, calling them "Rock" is just a disgarce to music. They are pop... and I prey to god they stay that way.

Sorry, difference of opinion. If it helps, I like American Idiot... That's about where it ends for me though.

I've always kind of get mixed about the Beatles, on one hand they were incredibly important to rock music, but on the other hand I've always thought the Rolling Stones were much better and that Beatles music was kind of overrated.

That's true the Beatles where and always will be rock icons. But so are green day they have inspired so much bands of today.
