2 of my friends cut themselves and hate me for telling the guidance counselor.

I found out Sunday that 2 of my friends cut themselves. I was mortified. they pushed away any help. and said I was "just like the others" and that I will pretty much abandon them. after much thinking. I had to tell the guidance counselor. when they found out they hated me. and still do. (it's been a few days). they don't want help. I'm almost ready to break. they say I told to hurt them more or because I was thinking of my own past (long story). they don't accept my being helpful. I'm honestly at a loss. nothing I say helps (granted they are still pretty mad). I don't know what to do. if I abandon them I truely become "like everyone else" yet they still tell me to get out of their lives. I need help just as much as them. please. any ideas?

Well from experience. I had a friend who wanted to tell a counselor that I was self harming. I hated them for it. But after I cooled down. I realized it was for the best but I helped myself. Just be there for them. Let them cool down a bit. If they are cutting obviously their not in the best state of mind. So just cool down and let them cool down and then talk to them and explain you never meant to hurt them and that your sorry

Continue to be supportive of them getting help, don't stop being their friend, and eventually they'll come around. Or they won't, it's not your fault though, you did the right thing. Ask them what you're supposed to do, sit around and watch your friends get hurt?

Just give them space, but tell them you'll be there if they need you. Then take care of yourself. There's an old saying which is very true: "No good deed goes unpunished."

Take it from someone with experience I cut and a friend wanted to tell a counselor about it I hated the very thought of it but I didn't actually hate him for it we're still good friends I was mad for awhile ten I realized that he truly cares about me they'll probably realize that your not like all the others just keep being supportive I still cut but I've gotten a lot better than I was mostly because of him.

They may hate you now, but they are alive. How would you feel if one of them had died because they were cutting?
