I dyed my hair.

two years ago i died my hair a really pretty light red. i used box dye. my hair is naturally dirty blonde. no red at all. i go to the salon to get my hair done every six weeks. i have ever since that box dye i used. even when i do my hair at the salon nomatter what color i get it has a red/orange tint to it. how can i get rid or that ? i feel like it ruined my hair. :/

Ask your colorist to add more "ash" to your color. That should tone down the red somewhat, but if your natural color has a lot of red to it, it'll be hard to eliminate the reddish tones...but look on the bright side...those golden locks look lively!

You need to bleach it and then re-dye it red.

Yeah. It does. xD I know and it sucks. But then you need to deep condition it at least once a week

Then re-dye it what ever color you want. But if you bleach it it will be brighter and bolder.

do not bleach... they have something that will strip the dye from your hair. you can get it at walmart or a salon can do it. bleaching will BE to harsh and turn your hair white

This is interesting. Something must have changed in your follicles to change your hair color permanently. Maybe you should see a doctor.

I use a violet red on medium brown long hair. If you dyed your hair a brown first the added a dark red or violet red then you wouldn't get a orange red. I too hate orange red. It's the blonde that lightens the red to orange.
