Quirey on USA marine corps hat badge

I have found a Badge that is very similar to US Marine Corps hat badge.I have been to every site possible but my badge is slightly different from all that I have found. Mine is Brass (I think) Eagle on top of globe showing america with an Anchor through the globe. All others on sites have chains on the anchor but mine doesn't. Does anyone out there have any ideas.I have spent hours looking for one the exact same as mine.I don't know where it came from. Was in a drawer that I was cleaning out.If it was pinned onto a hat, the Eagle is facing left towards left arm and Anchor handle is from right to left arm..Would love to send photo but can't.Hope someone out there knows why mine is different.

I was in the Corps, but without seeing it I couldn't tell you. Take it to your nearest USMC Recruiter, one of them can probably tell you as most Marines have a fairly decent knowledge of the history and tradition of the Marine Corps.

Yes I googled WW!. and I have found it.Thank you very much. I believe that my Grandfather(Australian) served in France and the servicemen used to swap badges and that's how it came to be in my Mothers belongings after she passed. Thank you so much for your help.I am very pleased.

Eisenhower changed it in 1954. Blog posting by BigD11b gives history.
