Who hates being broke? How do so many of the people out there have so much money?

I work hard Monday to Friday $20 an hour and I'm so poor! I have a crap car needs repair I sleep on the floor I only have 2 outfits to my name and less than $500 saved how do you people get so rich? I understand if your 60 you worked your life and saved the rest of the people are young and living it up and no they are not in debt so where is all this money made?

In most places $20/hr. is a good salary. If you live in an expensive place like New York City, then it won't get you far.
I wouldn't be surprised it the young people you see living it up are actually in debt (regardless of what they may admit publicly). Having said that, it often costs a lot to live poorly, and just a little more to live much better. If you have your doubts, check the rents for studio apartments versus two bedroom units. Or check the total cost of ownership of a decent used car versus a wreck (the upfront cost of things often masks the long term costs).
You should also consider the cumulative costs of little things that you consume regularly. Things like a cable or cell phone bill may not shock you on a monthly basis, but they add up to huge amounts of money over time. Even things like drinking a six pack of beer or eating lunch at a restaurant regularly can put a major dent in your finances over time. Good shopping habits, like waiting for sales, buying in bulk (when you can afford the upfront cost), or comparison shopping can help a great deal as well. The people that you think are living it up may be saving on the margins.

I disagree with the Vegas part. $20 an hour in Vegas is very comfortable for a single man or woman. You can rent a one bedroom apartment for $550 in a nice area. So basically you're misinforming people.

I had a couple friends who hated Vegas and moved back after a year or so, saying things are expensive there. I do know for sure about Hawaii and NY.

That is a fairly good wage to earn. Money just does not go as far as it used to.....and also, SOME of these people you THINK are better off than you, are actually living off of credit cards, which can mess you up in the long run. I know somebody who does this. Everything she has is charged. Everything. And, when she reaches a max credit card limit, she just gets another credit card. smh

I am sure there are people out there who have had harder times. Id say the worst was when I was 15 ready and willing to work and not being able to my parents at the time didn't make enough for many things so Id go with out! That's awesome your grateful for what you have most teens feel they do nothing and should get everything lol you got the rite idea!

Living paycheck to paycheck really sucks! I've been there and I'm still doing that. But, it's getting better for me and it will for you too over time. Your gonna have to really budget though. You need to figure out what your needs and wants are. Then balance your budget from there. Also, if you have any credit cards? Cut those things up! That's what got me in trouble in the first place. I can see maybe having one credit card. But, use it only in an emergency and pay it off ASAP! It's gonna be tough for a while. But, if you stick to your needs and cut back on your wants. You'll eventually get ahead financially. I'm not saying your gonna be rich. But, you'll be able to live more comfortably than you are now.

Twenty dollars a hour is a great pay. May be you can pick up a part time job on Saturday and Sunday for extra cash to help with the car and clothes for about six months
