There are a lot of things that could do with a innovative solution. Unfortunately its not so easy to invent something really good - else somebody would have done it already. ;-) Just think about what is giving you problems in your everyday life, and then invent something that solves this problem. Easy... :-)

Something holding back green energy: a way to store energy. Like a battery, only for a lot more energy. Reason: the sun shines only during the day, the wind only blows 20% of the time. You need to store this energy and nobody knows how.

The problem is that the wind blows during the day. If you have a wind mill, you can gewt energy out of it. To, for instance, switch on the light.
But if the wind blows hard enough, you have more energy from the mill than you need. Alternatively, when the wind does not blow, you might want to switch on the light, but the mill does not give you the power.
So: sometimes you have energy when you don't need it, sometimes you have a need for energy and and the mill does not have any.
It would be nice if there was a way to store the energy (like in a battery) when you don't need it, and take it out when you do.
The batteries we have today are not a good solution. If you make a battery that lets you store 2-3 times as much energy as you currently can, you will be a billionaire.

candybar

A peanut butter jar with a lid on both ends. That way, when your scraping near the bottom of the jar, (and get PB all over your hand), you can flip the jar over and unscrew the other end!
