How can I stop having nightmares every night?

I've been having nightmares every night for about a month now. They've gotten so scary that I'm kind of scared to sleep. Last night was the scariest it's ever been....How can I stop them? Or at least make them less often?

Nightmares can come from pretty much anywhere. Eating before bed? A physical ailment? A traumatic experience? Anxiety and events throughout the day leak into your sleep. The more you worry about things - the more they stay in your head. When I was a kid I'd have nightmares about all manners of monsters trying to harm me. What I did was fall asleep thinking about all of the things I could do to defend myself. Try thinking about being able to wield a knife, shoot a gun, drop a bomb, anything. I found I could shrink monsters with a shrink ray I kept by my side, and step on them. Nightmares gone! Perhaps this can work for you too!

Relax and stop worrying there's no foolproof way to "avoid" getting dreams. It's a random thing that just happens inside the mind while we're asleep.

Though, my dad always says and it was kinda true TO ME. That you don't sleep with a full stomach and to at least stay awake for an hour if you do eat. He says that it triggers dreams. Other than that, just chill and relax and don't mind it too much. Your mind will eventually run out of stuff to dream about.

Your dad is right. Consider your diet. Did you start eating anything different when the dreams began? We're there any life changes that might be stressing you out?

I haven't eaten anything different. But I think your right about stress causing it. A lot of bad events have happened and lately I've thought a lot about them. But most people's dreams of bad events are reenactment's of them, but mine aren't....

Could just be stress dreams.

They're about my friends and family that have died. But instead of them dying of an illness, accident, or suicide they're being murdered by a girl that looks like me...They're getting scarier each night and I don't know how to stop them. :-/

Ok, I'll do my best. I think it means that something big is going to jump in your path when you least suspect it and it's going to have a big decision, but it can hurt either your friends, or your family and you'll have to choose, but the one you don't choose will see you as someone who hurts them and doesn't love them. I don't know. That's all I got. Sorry sweetie ;(

Go to a shrink. They might give you a prescription for something to help.

Make sure you are very relaxed before you go to sleep. Not having enough sleep and not being relaxed can trigger problems. Here is my sleeping diet on week days. Wake up at 6:00 AM and go to sleep at 7:30 PM and i feel like the best thing in the world! Especially with a tasty breakfast and dinner. Also stress can cause nightmares. Make sure your home and work and stress free! PLZ FOLLOW!

I have the same problem. Same dream every night, too. I've never tried to stop it though. I want to see how long it goes on.
