What caused a sharp pain, and a bruise on the heel/palm of my hand (meaty part below thumb) when all I did was open a can of soda? ouch!

Yesterday I opened a can of soda and got a sharp pain in the heel/palm of my hand (meaty part below thumb) and now there is a dark brown bruise, what did I do to my hand? I opened a can of soda like I have opened every other one in my life, and the pain was shocking. I thought it was turning purple, but thought I was seeing things, and went about my day. Today when I was wondering why my hand was hurting I looked and was un-nerved to see a dark brown bruise. Really curious to know what could have caused this pain and bruise to come out of no where. Any Ideas?

Rub the damaged area with Arnica tincture or cream - THAT will disperse the bruising and pain rapidly. If your Pharmacist or Specialty Store can't help, dig up a local Homeopath or Medical Herbalist to get supplies. Arnica = bruising!!!

Why? You have broken some of the blood capillaries in your hand and they leaked into the surrounding tissues. You also squashed some nerves in that area and they are objecting loudly. A week will be enough to self-heal.

Maybe you did it doing something else and only noticed it when you opened the soda?

While that is a possibility, I still dont know what I would have done to cause it, I didnt do anything out of the ordinary yesterday.

I know I've done things like that - like notice a bruise or feel a spot that is sore, and absolutely could not account for how it happened...

You could have hit your hand against something unconsciously, and only noticed it while opening the can of soda. It's possible that you could have hit your bedpost or hit it against your drawer while dressing.

Maybe you hit it not knowing you did it?
