( 34 ) And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers.

Vegetation and fruits. But when they sinned, God was the one who killed the first animal. Which led to clothing and eating certain animals. God made the first sacrifice of an animal for Adams and Eves sins and God made the ultimate sacrifice, His Son, for the salvation of sins.
Adam and Eve are a story that has no merit to the true beginnings of any hominid species. As afar as what our early ancestors ate, they were omnivorous just like us, but they didn't get it from a grocery store as most of us do now.
I dont think they had to eat before sin entered the world. There was no hunger but they probably ate for pleasure and God said they could eat anything in the Garden except the fruit from The Tree Of The Knowlege of Good and Evil. After sin came God killed an animal to clothe them then taught them to farm and hunt.
