What does it means if your urine smell?

Report as

Urine with an odor means you aren't getting enough water to drink, or that your diet is terrible - or that you have a health problem in your renal system. Because of it's urea content, urine will easily release ammonia - a strong smelling gas - and that is a sign of bacterial disease. But it is not unusual for hard-working men to have strongly smelling urine. For women, urinal odor is associated with menstrual flow. In general not enough people drink adequate water - some NEVER drink water and they will have a lot more to worry about than stinky urine.... At least a quart ( a liter) of PURE water every day is a minimum. Realise that your renal system (kidneys, bladder, prostate, ureters and urinary outlets) is sensitive and breaks down faster than any other organ system you have. Something as cheap and as simple as pure water will protect you from a lot of pain and distress when you are older....

Catch your urine now and then and LOOK at it!!! If it is cloudy or has a strange color or odor or if it has blood in it, rush off to the doctor asap.

Urine smells due do various factors. When it is concentrated, it will smell because it means you are not taking enough water. The smell could also be associated with diet or medication. Read http://www.webmd.com/urinary-incontinence-oab/features/the-truth-about-urine. See a doctor to learn more.

l once cracked a tooth and noticed a change almost immediately in the smell of my urine. Poisons going thru the body are being eliminated and the smell is a telltale sign that something is going on. Not to mention the pain!

It depends on what kind of smell. If it smells sweet, it is sugar being flushed out of your body either by diabetes or that your body isn't digesting sugar right. It could just be that its concentrated and your not getting enough water. If it smells foul, it could be bile seeping in. Medicines and diet can also effect the smell of your urine. It would ask the doc to make sure.

It could mean that you're not drinking enough water. If you're diabetic, urine will have a certain odor, especially if your glucose (blood sugar) level is high. An individual who's drinking the right amount of water will have pale yellow to almost clear urine with next to no odor.
