What's the coldest planet?

I think it's Neptune?

Report as

Overall Neptune is the coldest. But the side of Mercury that is turned away from the sun gets even colder as I understand. It has no atmosphere to retain heat and its rotation is so slow it has a long time to cool off. Mercury's day is longer than its year.

My oldest is really interested in space. He tells me neat facts all the time. Like Neptune has storms with wind speeds of 1000 mph. That's hard to fathom. I think it's Neptune. It could be one of its moons. He could tell you.

Well, if we're only talking about planets in the Sol system, then yes, Neptune is the coldest, since Pluto lost its status as a planet. I don't doubt for a second there are colder planets out there in other solar systems, though.

I don't care what anybody says, PLUTO IS STILL A PLANET! Haha :-) But I also count Eris as the 10th planet and it's further from the sun so that's my answer, Eris.

I don't know, but the coldest spot is thought to be on our moon, inside a crater that almost never gets sunlight.
