What is the source of the large amounts of energy released in nuclear reactors and in the Sun? (cont. in details)

Are the same processes occurring in the Sun and in reaction? Explain.

Please help me. My book is no help. :( I don't understand.

The source of energy in reactors is the "fission" reaction which is splitting on heavier nuclei such as Uranium and Plutonium into daughter nuclei along with release of energy. In case of Sun, the main source of energy is the "fusion" reaction which is merging of two lighter nuclei such as Hydrogen into a heavier nucleus such as Helium.
