Cat (behavior) question. (If you know about cat behavior...or even a guess would be fine...please answer this question.)

Do cats have a specific reason as to where they choose to hang out as a group at night? I have no cats...near neighbors have no cats (that I know of) either. Recently, I can hear cats meowing on opposite ends of my house at night. It's kind of funny, but also creepy and annoying as well sometimes...especially at like 2 in the morning. Just the other night, I looked out my front door window and saw a white cat hanging out at the end of my drive-way looking around like it was waiting for it's buddy or a hot date. :p It looked so funny...I'm not going to lie. But I just wondered why these cats (maybe 3 at most) chose my house (all of a sudden) as their big hang out spot.

People who have a female cat in heat and don't want to spend the money to have her neutered will sometimes just dump her somewhere. If someone dumped one near your house, she will stay in the area while she finds her way around. Meanwhile, tomcats anywhere near there will smell that she is in heat and come courting from surprising distances.
