I recently fractured my L5 vertebra, on both sides. What are some lifting exercises I can do while I'm waiting on my back to heal? Ideas?

None back exercise. Anything that dose not involve the use of the back

Don't do A THING without advice of doctor or therapist and I mean it. You can damage the nerves and get permanent damage in your back and legs. I know this.

You must talk to a doctor and physical therapist about this. No one here is qualified to answer this over the Internet

Some good exercises you can do include stretching, as it is designed to be a bending exercise for the spin and it should be done to release tension. You can also do pelvic tilts as they build up muscles in the abdomen. Go to http://www.livestrong.com/article/521000-good-exercises-for-the-degenerative-disk-of-lumbar-spine/ for details.

Don't do any exercises or strain at all. You can damage the disc and make it twice as hard to heal. Talk to your doctor to see when you can start activities.
