I have been having this really bad pain in my side.

It was in my lower right abdomen area. I laid on my side and it hurt, then went away when I turned to lay on my back. I laid again on my side and it hurt again. It's a very sharp stabbing pain that makes it hard to breathe.

Pain in that area could be an inflamed Appendix - which is VERY serious. Phone your doctor IMMEDIATELY..............

It's only happened that one night though and I feel fine now.

like I said, the symtoms can come and go.... One minute you feel like your gonna die and the nex you feel like nothing had happen and you feel fine.

My advice remains firm: you need to get that symptom checked out. It could just be diverticulitus, or the early stages of irritated Appendix (both easily treatable) but you need to know what is wrong BEFORE the diagnosis gets so severe it bites you in the bum and you land up in hospiotal. Prevention is MUCH easier to arrange than acute treatment!!!!!

seriously, it could be a appendicitis. See a doctor and don't wait! I had one and it nothing to mess with. Everything you described is a symptom.

how long has this been going on? have you had any vomiting?
Report as
No vomiting and it was only that one night
Report as
I had some nausea that night but I don't know that it would be because of that.

the pain can come and go along with the vomiting. from my experience and everyone I've taked to with a appendicitis said the same thing "I don't think thats the problem". Here my story... When I woke up I had a mild pain and thought I had pulled a muscle in my lower right side. I thought nothing of it and ate some cereal. About 10 minutes later my body made me throw it up with out even feeling sick. I felt better for about two hours and was begging to go to the hospital because I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my lower right abdomin. About 10 minutes down the road I was sweating bullets in a well air conditioned car and everything went white and couldn't see a thing. I had these symptoms for about five minutes and everything went back to normal, no pain no nothing, I felt as though nothing had happen. I arrived into a busy ER and had people tell me I looked awful and let me cut in front of the busy line. Eventually it was taken out. I had another friend have light stabbing pain in his lower right side for two days, nothing that seem major to him. Finally goes to the doc out of curiosity and they tell him the bad news. With no insurance he asked them if he could go get some coverage. Their respose was "no, you need to go in now". My brother had a simular story. I would almost be willing to bet money, this is your problem. I hope I'm wrong, but let the doc decide. IDK if you know this, but an untreated appendicitis will rupture and there is a high chance of death... no joke! It is a minor surgery to have it removed, but if you wait too long it can be fatal. Please keep in touch and good luck.

Go to the ER immediately because it could be your appendix.
