For the people that live in California/Los Angels! How much does a medium house cost?

Report as

Depends on the location, but California has some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

More like outside of Hollywood!!

Probably somethign as low as 75k in a high crome area to easily multiple millions of dollars in the more affluent sections. It really boils down to the three most imprtnat thing in real estate value. Location location location!

True that!

mzdodgers, Exactly! I used you in my enlongated suggestion as well. You are so "on the money." I've always wanted to use that cliche' when it really was just "on the money!" TaaDaa! Have a great day. :)

I'm renting a 2 bedroom house 8 blocks for the beach (you can smell the ocean and see it from the middle of my street) and I pay $1500 month.

Hi. Really? :) That's outstanding! GOOD FOR YOU! Amazing, I'm tellin' ya, the last time we had a two bedroom, it was in an apartment complex, nice enough, but it was 2000 + 1st, last, security deposit, outside parking a "free for all," parking gates that were broken every other weekend, laundry mat, etc. I'm glad you have a house and you can see the beach! Again, outstanding! There are still fair people around! Have a nice night!

Thanks. I hope you find a good deal.

Thanks Restorer. We did find investment property, which we are fixing up right now. It isn't in the valley, but rather, we look at the valley. (Right now it's a bit windy, but did finally clear.) We see the Warner Center to our right and Chatsworth Res. to our left. The view is fabulous. It's a safe, gated, and relaxed environment. When we lived at the beach, which I prefer, we lived in Ventura County. There were and are some of the best strawberries around. I'm hoping you have a better idea why I gave the suggestions I did. I know you must enjoy living where you do as I do. I still believe you got a great deal! Good for you and hold onto it as long as you can! Have a great and fantastic day!

Hi. nblacksmith has an excellent point. Location is key. The closer to the beach, obviously the more expensive. It also depends on what you mean by medium house. Aprox. how many feet? Would you like Front/back yard? My husband is a contractor in LA County and Ventura County. I hesitate to tell you what the house he just built is listed for. Try looking up a real estate agency out here. They will give you a better idea and have listings and prices in your range. Good Luck!

Hi. I would like to edit my first response. The Newspaper's name is LA Times and the Chronical. You can find listings there. My husband builds exclusively in Malibu and the surrounding areas. The 3 houses he recently finished went on the Market in June and August of last year. The combined listings were well over 18 million. The one being shown today started at $4,750,000.00 . They dropped it 800,000.00. You can see it. This is not the norm. It does clarify what Restorer, mzdodgers, and nblacksmith say. I didn't want to scare you away. You can look up these at Pritchett-Rapf "prmalibu.com." Jack Pritchett is his name. One of the 3 houses my husband built was on the cover of August-November issue. You can still see the inside & the views this quarter as well. The name of it is: Villa Mar, Malibu, California. www.villamarpl. I just read you were looking outside Hollywood. That's "about an hour!" If you live here, you'll find "EVERYTHING" is "about an hour!" Big smiles! 5 miles or 15 miles, still about an hour. I hope to see your name up in lights. Hollywood is a lot more "flashy." Sunset strip is ALWAYS over-crowded. It's a blast to visit. Hollywood Hills are beautiful, but like everywhere else, there is only so much room and you will pay the price to have the zip code. I do hope you respond and this has been of help. Keep reaching for the stars! Big Smiles!

ps. I didn't want to put these big numbers out in my 1st response because I was afraid people may take it as me being "snooty and snobby." I like to keep a low profile. This way people may listen to my thoughts and not judge me on what my husband does, where I live, and what I see everyday. We DON'T live in the beautiful homes he builds. WE live in a happy little trailer park with a view at the moment. Someday we may move back to the ocean, (about an hour! hahahaha) But, when we do, we Won't live in a house like these. Please understand why I was so, vague on my 1st response. Take Care. Jack is great. He may be able to help you and if not, he'll direct you in the correct way! YEAAA! :) :)

well I don't know if you know I said this, but most likely the farthest from the beach (Still outside of Hollywood!)
And 1 floor house that has a small backyard and front!! (A house only for 2 people to live in) And if I do get a house in Hollywood, What would that cost me!!
Also don't jobs pay you more for living up there!!
Report as
Yeah I understand why you do that and I respect you!! Your husband is a good guy to do those jobs (He's alsome at it!) Well Im 16 right now and I was wounding how much they cost, cause that's my favorite place!!
So that when I get older I can save money and live There and it also may depends on how much money an apt. cost for rent!! And if I do get an apt. then I can get a job (If they pay more for being in LA then Ohio!!)
Report as
I gotta tell ya, for any person, 16 or 60 years old, you've got a great head on your shoulders. Yes, the pay/live ratio is highter. For ex: if you were to make 60,000.00 a year in Ohio, you could live comfortably. Here in LA, you can still live...but "paycheck to paycheck." This is a dangerous way to grasp life as you already know. Everyone needs to have a Savings of sorts.( A "cush cush" as I like to call it.) No one knows when the "boss" might be throwing an attitude and pull the Donald Trump: " You're Fired!" I can definietely help you. Hold on, and I'll give you the link about finding houses in Hollywood or there abouts. Before I do, thank you for being honest. I do play in these houses. Meaning, I'll have my picture taken while actingl, "Sooo daarrllinnggg, where is the maid, when I need her to run my bath?... aaahhh so, where is the butler to hang your jacket? The closet is right there.... I can't reach the big screen TV remote with my nails just manicured now can I? Oh my, where can we find good help!?" It's just funny. They aren't all like that.We still like to play every now and again. For me and my husband, like you, it does seem a little outlandish for two people. I'll be right back.

O.K. If you can these are the places where you can see and make your choices. Remember, these are the market prices of today. Not 3 years from now. try : Weichert.com/MD/Hollywood. This will give you extensive MLS listings with pictures. You can also try HomeListingsFinder.com/Hollywood. I hope this helps. In conclusion, I hope you find your home and your dreams. This is the place where dreams are made. Until then, enjoy Ohio. It's a nice place to be too.
