I've got a question about my dog.. Please read details!

My pooch is almost 5 and I've never had this problem before now.. For about the last month or so he has been burping and passing gas excessively. The gas doesn't seem to bother me, I haven't noticed an offensive smell from them, I can just hear it...but his burps---OMG! They smell so bad I can't tolerate it anymore. It has made me gag a couple times and I can't just turn my head or something, it stinks up THE ENTIRE room! Question #1: What could be causing this? like I said, he's nearly 5 and I've never had this problem with him before. Question #2: Besides taking him to the vet, because that's an obvious option, what could I do about this? Thanks for your help!

It is possibly a Gastric outflow obstruction. Gastric outflow obstruction is the partial or complete obstruction of the pyloric canal. The pyloric canal is the outlet of the stomach. The obstruction can be caused by the scarring of the pyloric canal and contractions of the pyloric canal. This prevents the stomach from emptying. Should the affected dog have a partial obstruction, the dog may vomit ten to twenty hours after eating. Should the affected dog have a complete obstruction, the dog vomits immediately after eating. The vomit typically consists of undigested food and may contain blood.

....he isn't vomiting though, he is burping and farting. I'm sorry but I'm not clear on how you feel this applies to the explained situation?

Most likely if you havent had his teeth ckecked, They might have an infection, which in dogs, it tends to make their breath smell bad so you might want to get his teeth checked.

Hmm... His breath isn't so bad, it's just when he burps... Could that be caused by the same thing?

1) the burps could be caused by something in his food, he could also have eaten something that doesn't agree with his tummy.
2)besides taking him to the vet, have you looked into buying some books on how to treat the burps?...I'm pretty sure there are a lot of books on what could be causing it and how to treat it...best of luck:)

Have you changed foods or treats? Either of these can cause the upset stomach. You can give Pepcid but you need to talk to your vet about dosage,

Dentabone. Helps breath and cleans teeth. Does it smell like rotting flesh? My dog smelled of rotting flesh and I found out he had cancer of the stomach. Don't change anything in his diet and don't let him eat human food. It could be he's getting into something that you don't know about.

I'm not sure what could be causing this, but I would suggest getting the dog to the vet, for a check up , and mention it

Yes, I know, in my details I said I already know that's the obvious solution. I was just trying to look for at-home remedies, but thanks anyway!

In my details I asked what other options there are besides the veterinarian. It's a no-brainer that he needs to go there, but I'm still looking other options and doing my own research.

Well geez, that is the best option. If you want the best option that's it.
