My ipod froze in mid song, i cant get it to turn off,change songs,synch with my computer or anything.. what happened , how can i fix this?

i was listening to my ipod ,while shopping at walmart, i went to the self check-outline,the music was playing, then all of a sudden, my ipod froze. i tried o get it to turn off or start playing again, but it wont.. i tried to plug it in to the computer, to synch it out of the freeze the computer didnt even recognize it as being plugged in, what happened, and what can i do to fix it?

To unfreeze an iPod after freezing, you need to hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Hold button for about 15 seconds. Keep pressing the two buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
