What are some tips to wean a child from a bottle?

What are some fast and effective methods to get an 11 month old off of her bottle. She will be one in a few weeks! :)

Although turning one is a good milestone for you it might not be all that exciting for the one turning one. So keep in mind that you have set a goal more for yourself than for the child. Also fast is not a good idea. transition takes time and if you had something comforting, even beloved to you, for someone to take it away from you and in a hurry might make you want to hold on all the more. With that said I would recommend a step by step and replacement elimination plan. First cut out any bottle feeding that is not associated with falling asleep. substitute with sippy cup. Then perhaps a reward. Try to narrow down to one bottle at night that you can take away before deep sleep. And don't punish for a relapse.

yea I know. I've never given either of my children binkies. I've tried the sippy cup but she just isn't liking it, lol. I guess I'll just have to be persistent.

a fun straw, or go shopping and let her pick out her fav big girl sippy cup. or if you dont mind her with a yummy treat give her a sip of kool aid or slirppee or something extra yummy (not alot) and put it in what ever you want her to drink it in.

Those Nuk sippy cups worked for us. We went to the store, I let her pick them out and never gave her a bottle again

There are these cups they are a dippy cup and the part they suck in is shaped like a sippy cup but it's really the nipple of a bottle just keep easing your way through different things until the baby is ready for a real sippy cup

My mother did it the old fashion way. Keep only one nipple and wash it between each use. At some point the nipple will colapse in on itself and the child will throw it away on its own. Always have a sippy cup with water available for the child to grab instead of the bottle. The point is let your child make its own decision to stop using the bottle

I would take her out and let her pick her very own sippy cup or something. Get her all excited about choosing something herself. Explain to her that it will replace that silly old baby bottle, cause she's such a big girl now.
You can make washing it or taking it to the kitchen a big deal, let her help wash and/or rinse her own cup, kids love doing things for themselves at that age. She'll forget all about her bottle if she focuses on the new item most likely.

take a sippy cup, or you can give her treats when she drinks out of a up. make her feel special and older when you give her a cup... put her least favorite drinks in the bottle, and her favorite drinks in the cup. let her choose
