Three reasons contributed to the Soviets victory on the Eastern Front. 1) The Russian Winter. No army has ever successfully invaded Russia in the winter (unless you are the Mongols) and Hitler chose the worst time to invade. 2) Stalin's Waste of Human Life. The Soviets had very low standard for their civilians lives and sent wave after wave of men to achieve victory. Stalingrad was a great example of this. (Crowding the entire population into a few square miles). 3) The Five Year Plans. Before Stalin, Russia was the least industrialized European nation. By the time Hitler invaded, Stalin's mechanized Red Army was ready to bash the Germans back.
