You think $3.99 is high? Wow. Count your blessings. Secondly- what makes you think gas should be cheaper during the winter? Gas is made from the same thing that home heating oil is made from. So, during the winter the price of oil (and thus, gas) goes up. It's just a normal market reaction to supply and demand. Or do you have something against the open market?
Half your luck, dyers. The price in Sydney is down a bit today at $1.48/litre but at 3.75 litres to the US gallon and converting to US currency, that's still $5.59/gallon. Last week it was $1.53/litre.
Forget about blaming Obama, as some have done. It's the petrol companies that are forcing up the price.
And Bush said gas would be $1.00 gal and the war would be paid w/ iraqi oil. coming from a guy who's owned Humbles (exxon) oil shares since great grand daddy helped Hitler. if you'll pay it they'll charge it. besides with that new oil line they have to pipe it from Canada, to louisiana refine it and ship it back. too bad they closed all those refineries in the N/E. they could have piped it to detroit or Philla. But no everyone was hot to get that oil line. I keep my consuption bare bones min. evryone should. you could always go gasifier. you car will run on wood chips. Didn't know that ey?
I get a kick out of hearing some claim Obama is a socialist, and at the same time blame him for not forcing government controls on domestic oil companies to make them sell their products to us cheaper.
In before Obama did it!!! Oh no, I'm too late. It's so expensive due to the powers of capitalism. You can always drive a Tesla. I recently got mine delivered after a 4 year waiting list, but it was absolutely worth it. But hey, if you drive a gasoline car, you're contributing to the demand for oil, which leaves them room to raise prices so that they can achieve maximum profits.
