Why is holding in sadness not healthy?

I was thinking about doing it for my boyfriend... i have a depression problem and I dont want him to be stuck with a depressed person forever, Ive mentioned breaking up (only if he wanted to i didnt tell him that though) and he said he didnt want to, but I still feel bad that Im so sad all the time, So i was thinking about pretending to be happy to make him happy. He doesnt know this.

One day it might all just come out and when/if it does it won't be good. You should talk to someone about it like family or close friends.

It's impossible to fake happiness forever, it might work for a while but people can since when its fake...

My boyfriend cant... or maybe he can but if he can hes not acting on it.

Find someone to talk to or else you can't succeed cause depression will cause that Google how to cope with depression

Well,hmmm maybe you should find someone to talk to but in my opinion don't keep secrets from your boyfriend because if you told any of your friends about your depression problem then they -> might <- slip and tell him and he might think there's more secrets your hiding so tell him everything about your problem and pour your heart out and don't pretend anymore if your gonna be happy might as well actually be happy :]

Because when you hold in sadness, it will often affect how you feel about yourself and it will lower your self esteem, and sometimes if yourself esteem is really low, you will then become depressed, and trust me, you do not want to have depression, because then you no longer feel any worth of anything and that often leads to suicide, so that is why sadness is not healthy to hold in.
