1) x - 2y = -2
2) y = 2x + 4
Substitute 2x+4 into 1) for y.
Solve for x.
x - 2(2x + 4) = -2
x - 4x - 8 = -2
-3x - 8 = -2
+ 8. +8
-3x = 6
/-3. /-3
x = -2, y = 2(-2) + 4 = 0
So x = -2, y = 0. ANSWERS
