On antidepressant pill bottles, it says "may cause suicidal tendencies." Why? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Report as

Because you're messing with the brain ... and doctors don't understand everything that goes on there, still. So what "cures" depression in some, may increase it in others.

Yes it does. So try to keep in contact with your doctor and keep an open line of communication with them.

Not really every pill works different with different ppl.. Some pills could make someone feel great while the same pill could make someone worse... It's just like recreational drugs everyone has a different trip lol

Doctors can't predict how it'll work on the person, but for most anti depressant works. Also, it only takes a few extra pills to OD...

Why chance antidepressants side-effects when you can just have some omega-3?s? No one is feeling depressed because of a drug deficiency but people are feeling depressed from a deficiency of vitamins, nutrients, and omega-3?s. Omega-3 fatty acids in particular have been shown time and time again to help depression. The role omega-3 fatty acids play in helping depression could have to do with the brain being made up of about 60% fat. When you consume high quality fats such as DHA and EPA, you are essentially feeding the brain and giving it what it needs to function.

It can cause suicidal thoughts when you are still trying to find the right dosage for it because you are messing with your brain.

The purpose is to make lots of money for Big Pharma. Defeats even that purpose by killing off the customers.

Your brain chemistry is being messed with and there is no way to know 100% how it will effect you. In most cases the medication is prescribed based on what the patient tells a doctor. Then you end up taking the medication in the hopes that it will do the right thing and adjust dosage and type over time as more symptoms appear or disappear. Psych meds are NOT an exact science by any means.
