Yes, VirginiaL is great at math because she is absolutely right! Your problem 2.5 x (-2) - (-3) x (-2) x (-0.5) can also be written (2.5 x (-2)) - ((-3) x (-2) x (-0.5)) = -2.

I think the answer is -2.
Here is how I did it, first 2.5 x (-2) = (-5)
Then, -5-(-3) = -5+3 = -2
And, (-2) x (-2) = (+4) = 4
Last, 4 x (-0.5) = -2
