Could I have a simple answer differentiating between a statue and a sculpture?

In Spanish class, we are learning a new topic and our vocabulary is based around art and music. Two words on it are statue and sculpture and my teacher asked a general question if we knew the difference between the two because she didn't know either. I have searched it on Google but all the answers are long and drawn out. I was wondering if someone could tell me a short, simple answer to tell the difference. Thank you. *On a side note, no this is not homework related, it was just bothering me to find out the difference.

Sculpture can be a relief, carved into and still part of the wall (etc) that they decorate. A statue is usually free standing, perhaps on a pedestal, but not attached to a wall.
