I'm 8 months pregnant and scared about giving birth.. This is my first baby. Any advice, suggestions or tips to help me get through labor?

Or any helpful thoughts or encouragement to calm my nerves and let me know everything is gonna be alright?

You will do just fine! Very soon you will be holding your precious baby in your arms. Just focus on how awesome it will be to finally see him/her face to face. The rest will fall into place. Congrats:)

Okay, well, when you give birth, focus on the area of your body with which you push. For the thoughts, well, God wont give something you cant handle. And He is with you. Gby.

Just think not about the pain, but about the rest of your life and your child :)

People make giving birth sound like this horrible thing. The truth is, they do that to scare teens out of getting pregnant before marriage. Trust me, with your husband (or boyfriend) by your side and the idea that the joy of the rest of your life is coming into the world, you will be just fine! ;)

By the time it comes time to deliver, you will be so ready to get the baby out you won't have time to be scared. Try to remember to breathe and focus. Then you will be over the delivery and then the really scary stuff starts to happen. You will then be responsible for another human being for a very long time!

Ok..I have had two boys naturally with no medication and no epidual...Well the best advice I can give is to keep breathing, get your own technique thats best for you, dont be pressured and try to do what the nurse or everyone else is telling you...Second have a calm face...dont put energy in facial expressions or squinting because this makes the pain feel unbearable and worse..Pray to God, he will comfort you...Just focus on getting thru each contraction..Its like pain climbing stairs and the higher it climbs the more pain U feelthen when you think you cant take it anymore, the pain instantly fades away and this process repeats and repeats..just know U will get thru it, Kinda try to think of it in that way..but remember keep your energy out of your face and if you gotta scream then do it..Child labor isnt easy..hope that helps and I will prayfor you and Ur baby Congrats!!

I agree with everything you said except while I agree you shouldn't give in to pressure, don't be too quick to discount everything the nurse says, either. You might actually get a really good one that has something helpful to say. Mine gave me some really simple breathing tips on the spot that did wonders for my pain. :)

If its not too personal, did you have an episiotomy, and how did that turn out if or if not? Thanks for your input

stillwatersiren...No I did not say to discount what the nursees say..I said sometimes they tell you a certain way to breath but it does not work for everyone, therefore sometimes u got to breath your own way..thanx

Zoogergirl...I did not have a episiotomy, but I did tear during the pushing process in my first pregnancy....I actually didnt know I tore open, but the doctor gave me a numbing shot on the tear area and sewed the tear..the numbing shot did not really work for me because I kept tensing up and flinching every sew he did..but after that the aftercare is just UGH lol its sore and hurts and feels funny when you pee, but heals up pretty quick..you cant wipe with toilet paper..they give u a bottle u can squeeze warm water onto your vagina to clean off and lightly dab with a soft cloth..the stiches dissolve by themself..you can probably see it in the toilet after you pee, I did haha

well, be prepared for what's coming... but before you go into active labor, -- when contrqctions start go in the tub for awhile it helps the pain and the cervix, - my advise is go natural alllll the way, I've done it wnd it's an experience that only mothers that donit that way can explain.i painfull, yes; amqzing experience YES!!-- hqve courage and do it ,you'll be just fine :) I'm qnd my daughter is now 13 :)

In my experience, I found that contractions weren't unbearable, it was the pushing that was excruciating - this is not meant to scare you, but just to be honest. Like Socal, I had two kids completely naturally. Now here's the important part - the best piece of advice for when it's time to push is DON'T PANIC. That will only make it take longer and be more difficult. Just squeeze the hand of someone you love really hard and make those pushes really count. Scream all you want; nobody will care. It will hurt like the dickens a few times, but then it will all be over in a flash and you'll have your beautiful baby and it will all be worth it. :)

Learn how to isolate and relax all parts of your body. It's amazing how much tension a person can carry and not even realize it. When contractions come, focus on calming yourself and not panicking, it will pass and you are a strong woman. When contractions come be aware of what part of your body is holding tension and use your breathing and relaxing exercises to help. Close your eyes and just be with the experience... Try to block everything else out. Giving birth is obviously a personal affair, so kick everyone out but those who give you peace :-) And lastly as others have stated, you will forget everything once you're holding your precious baby. It's a short experience compared to the lifetime you will have with your child. Congratulations!!

You possess amazing hormones and even more amazing things go on in your brain, that prepare your body for pregnancy and do their job even better to restore it to normal the second that baby is born . One of these things is that you will not remember the pain, you will only know it hurt, but that will be a faded thought. Each aching cramp, each contraction gets you closer to the moment your life will change forever. The second you see that child you know you would go through any pain for them in the future and that it was all worth it. You might however take it back when they turn two lol.

Its normal to be scared. You can receive pain meds to help you relax. My advise is to take them! I have 3 children. The great part is after they are born you forget all about how scared you are and the pain you felt. As soon as your baby is in your arms the world revolves around them. Congrats!
