you won't get good onion from them. if you want onions like in the store, plant seeds late fall. they will grow. but you will get a mass that looks more like large garlic bulbs. it's OK too what I do with them is seperate them peeel the outside leaves off. grill them over a light open fire1.5 ft from low flame till charred. wrap 5 bndl of them quickly in news paper and put into a cooler . They will finish cooking and soften. peel charred outer leafs eat the soft centers with fine red wine.
