How to deal with extreme anger?

I feel like I'm going to break something. Please help?

Report as

Stab a potato with a knife, seriously. It helps.

This is what i do. I just text my bestfriends, flirt with others, i listen to music too. Music helps me alot, i have anger issues and it really helps me. Get your mind off of it, go somewhere, do something that will make you laugh:)

Break Something, buy some cheap stuff to just go outside and HULK SMASH the crap out of. It relieves so much stress, and if you buy a baseball bat, you can have fun with plates! lol

Its all about dealing with your emotions in a safe way that wont hurt yourself or others. Try punching a pillow or venting out your emotions through something you like. For example, I like dance, so to deal with my anger I dance and dance.... or run ( I like running to ). Also, it may help to think of a good memory or try to resolve the problem of whatever is making you mad. I hope this helps. <3 :)

Just go outside and cuss around a bit, maybe punch something. You'll feel better afterward. What made you so angry anyways(you dont have to say if you dont want to).

Try a breathing technique. A good one is called square breathing. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold breath for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds. Then repeat over and over. Give it a try bro

Do something that you enjoy. When I'm mad I go out to the country and play with my horses. Sometimes you just got to get away from people :) my boyfriend goes to fish when he is stressed

Find a random cardboard box, and start stabbing it with a knife. If you really get into to it, cuss at the box and show it who's boss.

Negative emotions like anger kick us into survival mode, as if saying to our body, “we are in danger”. There is a physiological change that takes place in our body to prepare us for fight or flight. These physical responses disrupt the natural flow of energy in our body – affecting our heart, immune system, digestion and hormone production. A negative emotion is therefore toxic to the body and interferes with its harmonious functioning and balance.

Prolonged anger, stress and holding grudges will hurt our adrenal gland and immune system. For women, stress on the adrenal gland can affect the reproductive organs (uterus, ovaries) causing them to exhibit abnormal behaviors, potentially resulting in sterility.

Sounds like stress possibly from work or roomates. You may need to go work out at a gym with weights or just get laid. Good luck to you.

Relieving anger, utilizing violent means, such as stabbing, punching or trashing things only reduces your anger for that moment. Studies have shown that using such means release adrenaline and endorphins into the body, physically tiring you out. It won't help control future episodes.
On the flip side, studies have shown that breathing techniques, jogging, tranquil music, positive social conversation, meditation and long walks are much more conducive to long term anger management control.

Hi Lynne! Mr. Happy and I were just talking about you not 15 minutes ago. How are you?
Report as
Hi Happy! Say hi to Mr. Happy for me, please. I'm doing better, thanks for asking. I go Friday to have the Staples removed so I'm pretty excited about that. But I'm even more excited about taking a real shower tomorrow. Lol Due to the Blizzard, tomorrow is only the second time VNA has been able to come out to change the dressing.
Have you heard from Jan? How is she doing?
Report as
Not heard from her recently. I hope she's well. It's been over a week since her last answer. She may have made a comment or two that I missed. Those are more random and hard to track. I'll be sure to say "Hi" for you , if I see her. If you see her first, tell her I send my love!

A real shower! That's always a step to feeling more normal. (Not always easy to do.) You were in that horrid blizzard? Yikes! I learned to change dressings for the family. It's something that's come in handy too often.

Wow! It's good to hear from you! I'm getting a little teary thinking of you and Jan. you're both wonderful!
Report as
Thank you so much Happy, you are a wonderful, caring and compassionate woman. My sister lives downstairs from me but she's not very interested in helping out. I'm use to it though, so I've just been using those Bath in a bags disposable washcloths.
I'm worried about Jan, also. I haven't seen any postings from her. I'm going to hope she's just been busy with Therapy. If I see her here, I'll pass on your message.
I'm in CT, so we got walloped pretty hard by the Blizzard. It's still a mess here. This one was worse then 1978's. pretty bad timing for me, that's for sure. My neighbors have been great though, they've kept my driveway open so if I had to get to the Doctor or Hospital, Emergency vehicles can get to me.
Report as
Sorry I was slow to respond. The Hall of Fame came out, but no emails were sent. Every congrats took multiple comments, so I was out in "time out." Silly.

Lynne, I'm glad you are progressing as planned. Sorry you had to go through the extra surgeries. Your neighbors sound lovely. Sorry your sister isn't interested. :(

It's nice to connect so that Jan, you and I can share news together. I think of you both so often. My husband actually asked tonight, "Have you heard from Lynnelynne?" Yea. I talk about you a lot. You're a sweetie.
Goodnight my friend. Get well soon!
It's after midnight! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! <3<3
Report as
Happy Valentines Day, to both Happy's! I think of you and Jan a lot also. Congratulations on your Hall of Fame win! You very much deserve it, I'm so happy for you. How many times have you been selected? If they have a yearly Best of the Year, you should be given that honor also. Have a great day and tell Mr. Happy to give you a hug for me!
Report as
Not 'til after he showers! LOL! :P
Report as
I'm all cleaned up now, hug away! Lol
I had the Staples taken out today, it feels great! I can now resume my daily shower routine, yay! They gave me Steri Strips to put on, should the ones they placed fall off after showering. He-he, they knew that was the first thing I'd do.
Report as
I meant Mr. Happy needed a shower. Just picking on the poor guy. Lol!

Staples out is always a good thing! Those first showers aren't easy to do, but man-'o-man, does it feel good to get clean! I'm glad the app't went well. Yay, indeed. You're mending!

Oh, I forgot to answer your Hall of Fame question. I joined Ask in November. I was in the Hall in November and January. Thank you for the compliment, but there are plenty of people here who are smarter and nicer.

Keep healing! : )

right, but how? personally i say he should go out and break something, like a beer bottle or an ugly vase.

except i cnt say tht, cuz my answer got deleted -__-
Report as
After he breaks that bottle, he's gonna want to stab something with it, if your gonna let your anger out you have to think quick and control yourself
Report as
RedRose
thats the thing tho-letting your anger out is about letting go. of course, he has to have a certain amount of control. enough not to stab himself or anyone else. but hitting the punching bag or yelling at the top of your lungs or smashing an old plate-theyre harmless and can prove really helpful.
Report as
Yeah, you just have to set precautions or limits before you totally lose it if you can, it doesn't always go very well
Report as
RedRose
fair point. but if you do have boundaries its really good to be able to allow yourself that kind of outlet. its like that with everything tho. gotta have moderation- not too much, but some.
Report as
LOL, like booze, you just can't always control how far you go

The most worst nature or we may call it attitude of human being "Anger". It cuts the link in between mouth and mind we have no control over our words. In my point of view to avoid and to keep silence is the best way to deal with anger problems or for further you may follow this....http://howpoint.com/How-to-control-your-temper
