Ok so my husband just went to the doctor today and his doctor told him he had to loose 40 pounds in the mid section... Any effective ideas?

He is in his mid 40's...

It's the fast digesting carbs that are killer cause what happens is they cause your insulin level spike and when this happens your body stores the extra as fat to use for energy later but then he feels hungry sooner and prolly eats the same fast digesting carbs google slow/fast digesting foods and do some home work good luck

Cut carbs, such as white bread, potatoes, rice, any white food in general. It really helps, along with exercise.

cut out sugar,carbs,bread/dough,soda and juices, most salt and do lots of excercise and cardio and he should lose it in about 3 months!

3 months and he could drop 40 pounds! He only dropped 1 pound in a month. He has a very long way to go at this rate... But I will try that, thank you.

oh well i dropped like 20 pounds a month on my diet so i guess i was just thinking like if it were me...

Well any advise will help, he was not even trying to loose weight cuz he didn't think he needed to, so now that he heard if from his doctor and not just me he is now wanting to loose weight and get healthier. So I am willing to do anything to get him to a healthy weight.

well if your willing to do ANYTHING than i suggest getting him a personal trainer would make him lose the weight VERY fast and a fitness/calorie journal where he writes down what he eats and the excercise he does! it really helps...

hmmmm interesting. He is very stuborn and he works construction so maybe getting him a notepad to write things down on? He eats 2-3 bowls of cereal every night before he goes to bed about 2 hours after dinner because he does not eat very good when I am not around him. But I cook every meal and there is always a meat, vegetable, and a pasta or startch... What should I cut out or add and should I measure what he eats?
Report as
dont cook any read meat! i suggest chicken or fish and include too vegtables and maybe a piece of cornbread or a roll once in a while..... when hes feeling snacky instead or cereal how about a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts even low fat yogurt can be a good choice!

* 2 vegtables not too lol

and i dont think you need to measure it just smaller portions!

I serve him what I know he will eat... But maybe its too much? I cook a whole lot of chicken, not as much fish as I shoud seeing as mu kids don't care for it. I will have to change my cooking habits a bit I think and get more good stuff to snack on. His biggest down fall is chips he opens a new bag and can finish it the same night unless I take it away from him. Lol.

oh and i forgot a key thing no fast food and no fried stuff and stay away from pasta!

Oh man I really need to change the way I cook. I eat all the same stuff that he eats, sometimes more and I can't gain weight for the life of me I'm 126 pounds 5'4" 28 years old and he is 240 pounds 5'11" and 46 years old, so its not like he is obese, but why is it that he gains all the weight and I gain nothing?
Report as
hmm idk you probally were born with a very high metabolism and he wasn't....
