Mine is: soak split peas a couple of hours. drain Boil in fresh water with diced onion ham hocks and spices to taste (salt, pepper, garlic, etc) for 10-20 min, adding water as needed. Reduce to simmer. Add good ckn bullion cube (best is frim hispanic section but Knorr has good ones as well - moist not dry cubes) Add beef bullion cube - ditto above After a coupled of hours remove ham hocks. Add more spice if you like. More bullion to taste as well. This makes a mush like soup. Reduce cook time if you want peas more intact. You need to watch it and taste often to make it as you want it. Adding bacon is good too.
